History reading 1 yay done
History reading 1
Reading about the early people and
the early civilizations was very interesting due to the fact that I got to read
how humans took over the world from the beginning of time. The fist chapter
covered really important facts and dates regarding how the start of the early
human societies began to form. Its nice to learn how the Paleolithic’s and
Neolithic’s used their hunting and gathering techniques and basically formed
the beginning of the early agricultural societies. It really got me thinking
how many of us need the help of technology to do a lot of thinks when our
ancestors did everything by hand and survived by doing so. It just made me
think that we relay a lot on things when the early people did everything by
themselves. Society really has change drastically. Learning about the early
migrations and how the book mentions, “Africa almost certainly was the place
where the human revolution occurred, where culture defined as learned or
invented ways of living, became more important than biology in shaping
behavior.”(Strayer 13) This was so interesting to know because I had no idea
that Africa holds such history. To be honest I never really thought Africa had,
such not to sound ignorant. It was nice to read how humans inhabited new
environments in Africa. From fishing to new technological tools much more than
the common hunting and gathering. It was nice to learn bout the human societies
and how relationships between women and men usually were more equal than in
later societies. That was really shocking because In todays society men and
women are not consider equal and they have separate roles .Its nice to see how
before it was not always like that. Furthermore the Paleolithic culture tells
us a little about their religious and spiritual dimension. Due to the fact that
bones and stones tell a little about what they thought. I also found interesting
is that many people agree on civilization is that civilizations had their roots
in the agriculture revolution and due to that is that Is that they appear so
late in the human story. Reading about the places where civilizations were
formed is really interesting. Both chapters reminded me a lot of my social
class social inequality class I took last spring because we talked about the
fist people how class and culture and language began and how everything was started.
It covers a little of everything how languages cultures and traditions where
developed.
